Scott
stopped painting for nearly a decade, apart from the
occasional portrait for friends or family -- he said
that he "just couldn't see the point." Then, in March
of 2004, he began to paint again -- he just suddenly
decided to experiment and see what he could do with
transparent and opaque paints, and he wanted to "play
with light" -- and he wanted to paint what he really
loved to paint. The result of all of that experimenting
is an ongoing series of paintings called "Sylphs."
Scott never intended for them to be shown or sold, but
after letting a few friends take a look, the paintings
seemed to gather their own momentum -- the Sylphs are
now collected by art patrons from around the world.
